Food Bank today at 2 pm at Hondo Valley Public Schools

There will be no summer school and Hondo Valley Public schools will be closed tomorrow June 20, 2022 in honor of the Juneteenth federal holiday. Summer school will resume Tuesday June 21st.

Food Bank 2:00 pm today Tuesday June 14. Please stay in your vehicles and our volunteers will put the boxes in your vehicles.

Football meeting this evening at 7 pm for any 7th-12th grade students that want to play football this year. Parents are required to attend with their student athlete. The meeting will be in the cafeteria.

Interested in Football? There will be a meeting Tuesday June 7 at 7pm for any student grades 7-12 that is interested in playing football - parents/guardians MUST accompany their student to this meeting. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding on this subject so hopefully I can answer all questions. Again, any 7-12th grade students that want to play football and their guardian must attend this meeting at the school gym.

Reminder; Thursday May 26, 2022 is semester exam make-up day. No busses will run and only students needing to make up a semester exam need to come to school.

Free Sports Physicals at Region 9 School Based Health Center next to Ruidoso High School through July on Tuesdays and Thursdays. May 24 and 26 are fully open for appointments. Please come by HVPS to pick up forms and call 575-630-7974 to make your appointment. Physicals are required for summer practices and sports next year.

To accommodate the services for Veronica Sanchez, HVPS has moved the K-12 end of year awards assembly to 2:00 p.m. Thursday May 19th. Thursday May 19th is the last day of school for Seniors and Grades K-6. Grades 7-11 will have school on Friday May 20th to make up for a weather cancellation earlier this year. The last day of school for Grades 7-11 is Thursday May 26th.

The VARSITY sport award ceremony has been re-scheduled for Tuesday May 17th beginning at 5pm in the Hondo School Gym. All VARSITY student-athletes and their parents/guardians are invited. Cookies and drinks will be served

Parents/Guardians – grades 5-11 We will have the student based health center on campus Tuesday MAY 17 and they will perform the sports physicals free of charge. Forms will be going home today with students and available to pick up in the office In order to BEGIN PRACTICE a student must have on file with the coach: • An up to date medical examination • An up to date permission to treat form • A copy of a current insurance card • A copy of the signed Hondo Athletics code of conduct Football practice will begin August 1 at 8am Volleyball practice will begin August 8 – time to be determined

Friday May 20th is a regular school day to make up for a cancellation for weather. At 8:30 a.m. HVPS will have our 1st-11th grade end of year awards assembly in the gym , and at 10:00 a.m. the elementary will have a field day on the football field. We release school at 1:00 p.m. on May 20th. May 20th is also the last day of school for High School Seniors and Elementary students grades K-6. Grades 7-11 last day of school is Thursday May 26th.

The 68th annual Fiesta is one week away. Today, Friday May 6, we are decorating the Gym for Fiesta and we can use all the help we can get! Please come to the gym and give us a hand and help HVPS make the 2022 Fiesta the best yet!

This urgent message is to inform the Hondo Valley community that HVPS has had one positive COVID-19 case on our campus and that there are multiple positive cases in our community. We ask that if you or your child are showing signs of illness which can include any combination of fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, body aches, headache, new loss of smell or taste, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea, please stay home and out of all public spaces. Hondo Valley Public schools policy states that if a student has any of these symptoms, they are strongly urged to be tested for COVID-19. If your child tests negative, they may return to school once symptoms improve. If your child tests positive or you choose not to test a student who is symptomatic, they must quarantine for 5 days. Testing is available at HVPS every Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or at Curative Testing sites in Ruidoso every day.
