HVPS Parents and Students, With the safety and well-being of all Families in mind, Hondo Valley Public Schools will remain in the remote learning model through the remainder of the semester which is November 30-December 17, 2020. School will continue on November 30 through the online format for Grades K-12. Please encourage your children to continue to work from home on all their course work, to reach out to teachers and staff for support, and to log-in daily in order to keep up with all classes and not to fall behind. Please know that your child will be receiving communication from their teachers via email, so it is important that they log-in daily and often throughout the day to be aware of important that will assist them to be academically successful. Meals will continue to be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays via regular bus routes. Please call the school on Monday November 30 to arrange meals for your child if you have not already done so. Hondo Valley Mid-High School 2nd 9 Week Deficiency Reports for students earning a ‘D’ or ‘F’ in one or more classes have been mailed home. There are a number students with missing assignments and failing grades Please visit your PowerSchool account https://hondonm.powerschool.com/public/home.html to determine if you are missing any assignments. Each student has been given login credentials. Students can make up ALL MISSING ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE ENTIRE SEMESTER until December 10th. All students, staff, and visitors must wear a face mask while at Hondo Valley Public Schools, during HVPS-sponsored activities, and on HVPS transportation. Face masks must cover the mouth and nose and fit snugly against the sides of the face in order to contain respiratory droplets. The types of allowable face masks include: 1. Face masks made of two or more layers of cloth. 2. Disposable masks for people who forget to bring their masks to school. 3. Face masks with a clear plastic window or that are made of clear material. 4. Surgical, procedural, N95 or KN95 face masks that are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use by staff performing medical duties or similar close contact assignments. The following face coverings are NOT substitutes for face masks: 1. Face shields 2. Masks that have exhalation valves or vents 3. Bandanas 4. Scarves 5. Services for Michael Candelaria will be Wednesday October 7, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio. Rosary 9:30 AM and Funeral Mass 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at the Hondo Cemetery Hondo Valley Public Schools will be closed (both in-person and remote learning) Wednesday October 7th so that staff and students can attend the services.

Great news! We have received approval from the New Mexico PED for in person learning K-12. This week the Elementary school will remain in the hybrid model and all students will attend school until 3:20 p.m. daily. At-risk students grades 7-12 will attend on Tuesday October 6 and Thursday October 8. Middle and High School staff will contact those students that should attend on those days. School will be cancelled Wednesday October 7th for Funeral Services for Michael Candelaria. This includes both in-person and remote learning. There is no school on Monday October 12th for Indigenous People's Day. Hybrid classes for grades 7-12 (50% of students on Monday & Tuesday and 50% of students on Wednesday & Thursday) will begin on Tuesday October 13th. School will begin at 7:55 am and end at 3:20 pm daily. Middle and High School staff will contact students with information about which group they are in, and bus drivers will contact students with information about the bus schedule.
